DAM Migrations - Client Readiness

Here are five things clients can do to determine if they're ready to begin a DAM migration project:
  1. All assets decided upon and ready to be uploaded to the storage container for test migration and full migration.  This is often times difficult for a client because it usually requires having discussions with multiple groups, and getting down to a granular level on all migration data, which can take time. But deciding on all of the assets and metadata to be migrated is the most important item that should be done before the migration project starts.
  2. Metadata mapping exercise complete and csv ready.  This involves cleaning/mapping the metadata so that any legacy field and values being migrated align with the the fields and values in Aprimo DAM.
  3. Client resources ready for project.  It's important that the client project team be ready for the project. This includes anyone with detailed knowledge of all of the files and metadata being migrated.
  4. Upload tools (AZCopy and Azure Storage Explorer) downloaded and ready, and test upload using the tools completed.  The two standard tools that are used by the client to upload the files to Aprimo for migration are AZCopy and Azure Storage Explorer. Some clients have restrictions on the types of tools that can be used behind a corporate network and need to go through an approval process in order to be able to use them. The approvals should be completed and the tools tested before the project begins.
  5. Clearances to upload files over the internet to the Azure storage container, if clearances are necessary (network team, security team, etc).  If the client will be uploading many terabytes of data over a corporate network, similar to the point above, they might need to get the proper approvals to upload the data. Any approvals to do this should be completed before the project can begin.
